The Mora knifes have arrived

Hi all.

The knifes....😱
From all the forest equipment the one I am most fearful of is the knifes. 
Maybe it’s a cultural thing…

It really makes no sense because unlike the other equipment they are quite small. 

So I decided to buy a different kind of mora knives, the one with the tip caught off, the website said it’s more child friendly but after examination they are quite sharp. Tomorrow we going to have our first go them if time will allow it. Personally I feel I need to conquer my fear of the knives and of tool use with young kids. So I decided to try first with the more grown-up group that I’m Teaching. It’s a group of 5 kids who are at the age of 12–13 and are a very responsible and committed group of young kids. I know I can trust them to listen and to do things right.

I feel personally as a forest school leader, that I need to shed some of the inhibitions I have through tool use and my way of doing it is by teaching that group of five older kids that I trust.
